Book Reading/Signing

“There’s the kind of support you ask for and a kind of support you don’t ask for. And then there’s the kind that just shows up.”

Thanks so much for all of those who were able to make the book launch celebration. It’s surreal, and I am slowly coming down from the high I have been on today. It was just wonderful. I had been thinking about this quote from a Sex and the City episode as the launch approached, “There’s the kind of support you ask for and a kind of support you don’t ask for. And then there’s the kind that just shows up.”

So thanks to all of those who have supported, offered to support, or who have just shown up. It means so very much to me!

First of all, thanks to the writers who shared their works.

So these two ladies right here (Desiree and Crystal) are my sisters and friends. They encourage my writing, edit my writing, and give me that extra push to hit publish on pieces that make me feel exposed. Thanks to both for walk with me!

Thanks to my pastor and his wife. AKA nana and poppy. They are amazing and have loved and supported me for 20+ years. I love them much. Thanks to Angela and her mom Rosanne for coming. Angela was my dream coach, and she has been helping me push through my fears and insecurities and go after what I want!

With my brother Tali, my sister Deidre and sister friend Denise, and my sister friend Kenna.

Coming Soon to an Amazon Near You…

I’ve had quite a few people ask me where I have been. I will admit I have been MIA lately, but for a good cause!

I am excited to say that a second anthology, titled The Outpouring, was sent to the publisher today! I feel giddy and great about this project.

Writers include myself, Ursula Lovely, La’Shandra Perkins, Makaila Johnson, and Cheryl Boyd. The artwork was done by Devlin Donnelly.

There are a few loose ends to tie up, but we very close! When the book is available, I will communicate that. We are also planning on having a book launch party, which you are all invited to. I will post a picture of the title page soon.

It will be available in hardback, paperback, and Kindle.

It has been three years since Illuminations (which is available on amazon.com) has been published. If you have not gotten your copy, see me. I have some available for purchase.

Illuminations

My book supply has finally arrived. I’m super excited to begin to sale the books. Very appreciate of the friends who have and will support us in this journey. I say us because there are four other writers in the anthology.

My main goal in the compilation is to give writers an opportunity to get  theirs works out there. At my church, we have so many writers, and creating a platform for writers is something I want to do.

This is preparation and laying the groundwork for something bigger. I look forward to more anthologies and more books in our future!

Anthology Update

I mentioned my church anthology in the May blogging frenzy. Here is an update!

So I worked with the writers through June. At that point in time, I forwarded it to my editing teacher, and she edited it. I spent some time going back and forth with the writers on her edits.

Now, the book is in the hands of a coworker who is doing the graphics and layout. I hope that by the time I leave for vacation, it will be in the hands of a printer.

I am not sure if I mentioned it or not, but we had five writers (including myself) submit to it. I am sad to announce that one of the writers has since passed away. Very, very sad indeed.

I am very excited. Be on the lookout for your chance to purchase a copy. It’s going to be called Illuminations: Magnifying the light of Christ through the pen.

Anthology

I have begun working on the anthology for my church in earnest.

Now, I will be remiss in saying I have had months to work on it, but, without a deadline, I procrastinate!

Right now, I am working with the writers on edits. The idea is for me to give my edits and for them to accept them or tell me why they don’t want it changed. Repeat and re-rinse.

Then, I will have an external editor edit the work before turning it over to a coworker who will lay it out for it to be print ready!

My only major question is who to select to print it and how many copies to print!

Church Anthology

I’ve had a desire to publish an anthology of poetry, testimonies, and short stories at my church for some time. I have been the delay in getting this done for a variety of reasons. Now, it’s time.

I encountered a woman from my church in Safeway on Sunday after church, and she told me she was waiting on me so she could use her gift. So, now here is the plan!
